Coverage: Participating Member
Sava
Breslau Ontario

Very few Slovenians lived in the Kitchener area before the Second World War. After the war about two hundred families settled there. The first social gatherings were held in private homes and rented halls.
In 1961 the Slovenians purchased a piece of land containing an old building in Breslau, near Kitchener, for a social centre. In the following year the association Sava, named after the Sava River in Slovenia, was established. The members adapted the building to the early needs of the association. A hall was built on the property in 1974 and the opening celebration took place in 1975. The activities of the association include social events, banquets, folklore presentations, and meetings. The building is also available for public rental.
