The Slovenian Association
Ottawa Ontario

The Ottawa Slovenian Association was founded in 1975 and the Slovenian school was established a year later. The society's aims are to further social ties and mutual support among Slovenians in the Ottawa area, to organize Slovenian folklore presentations, to operate a Slovenian school, and to share the Slovenian heritage with non Slovenian friends.
Among the activities organized by the club are three annual dances, a New Year's celebration, two summer picnics, Slovenian Day festivities, and monthly social afternoons. The society prints a bulletin, Med nami (Between Us), and a telephone list of local Slovenian families. At the present time the membership includes approximately fifty families and eighteen individuals.
