Dom Lipa
Etobicoke Ontario
The Slovenian Linden Foundation was formed in 1974 among Ontario
Slovenians dedicated to its goals. The association's first aim
was to supply financing for the construction of a Slovenian
senior citizens' home, Dom Lipa, and to subsequently support
and maintain the premises. The second aim was to provide accomodation,
care, and other support services at the home.
Dom Lipa also provides social and recreational opportunities
for Slovenian seniors who reside in the community. Activities
such as gardening and craft making are organized. A priest is
available for the celebration of Mass and for other needs.
Land was purchased on Neilson Street in Etobicoke, and the construction
began in 1985. Community support, hard work, and determination
changed a dream to a reality.
